Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP)

Here at Gloucester Chiropractors, we see a lot of women suffering with Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) both during and after pregnancy.
Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) is defined as pain in the lower back, buttocks, front of the pelvis and may be accompanied by pain radiating down the legs. It is often worse with standing and walking, movements that separate the legs such as getting in and out of a car, turning over in bed or getting up from sitting or lying, to name but a few!
PGP is common, but it is not normal and isn’t something that you have to put up with as part of a normal pregnancy. The great news is that PGP is treatable and responds extremely well to manual therapy such as Chiropractic treatment, especially when combined with advice and home exercises.
Chiropractic Treatment for PGP is gentle and safe and aims to improve the movement and symmetry of the joints in the pelvis and decrease tension in the surrounding muscles and ligaments. There are numerous treatment options including soft tissue work, dry needling, mobilisation, manipulation and taping and your treatment will be tailored to you and your needs.
All our Chiropractors are trained in the management of PGP and Beth,is one of only a few Chiropractors in Gloucestershire to come recommended by The Pelvic Partnership, a charity aiming to raise awareness of PGP and its treatment.
We also have a specially designed Belloost treatment pillow, which enables you to safely lie on your front for treatment whilst being comfortable and supported.
If you or anyone you know is struggling with PGP and you would like more information or to book an appointment, please contact the clinic and we can arrange this for you.
